Welcome to the 2010 "Birthday Bash for Batonga," which is sponsored by the Grobanites for Africa Team! All proceeds from this fundraiser go to The Josh Groban Foundation to be designated for The Batonga Foundation, whose mission is to support both secondary school and higher education for girls in Africa. This fundraiser will provide sponsorships and help with the educational needs for 103 girls from two schools in Sierra Leone in Western Africa.
In Waterloo, you can help Batonga support 78 girls with secondary school education packages. Your donation of $82 will provide a scholarships with a secondary school education package. Each of these girls is shown individually on the auction site. (Note! This number was increased since the sponsorships were so successful!)
In Freetown, you can help Batonga support 25 girls at a Vocational Training School that rescues girls from brothels and gives them job training. Your sponsorship of $200 will pay for one girl's school fees for a vocational training program for a full year.
In addition to the individual sponsorships, the auction items and buy now items will pay for additional expenses not covered in the sponsorships. This includes mentoring activities, lunches, transportation to and from the schools, employment kits upon graduation (for the Freetown girls), and other program expenses.
